Hello there! I’m Zainah, I am one of several skilled teammates we have here at Are You Ready For College. During my time in high school, I experienced many successes in both academia and fine arts, due to a mixture of resilience and phenomenal mentors. Though my achievements in AP courses and being VP of a school organization was instigated by a willingness to learn, guidance from school faculty was a huge help in my process to becoming a college student (and finally pursuing my passion for architecture!). This is why I’ve developed such an eagerness for this position, so as to give others what many teachers provided to me. Hi, nice to meet you! My name is Marlei and I have been tutoring students in academic studies as well as music ever since high school and all the way through college! I specialize in English, biology, voice, music theory, and college prep. I’ve always had a love for helping others succeed in understanding material that seems a bit daunting at first. Currently I am a music major and my minor is in songwriting and music business. I am extremely creative and patient, and no question is ever a dumb question! I sing all the time and when I’m excited I may even sing a riff or two (I know it’s funny so it’s definitely okay to laugh). Hi, my name is Adrian! I am an incoming freshman at The University of Texas at Austin and an aspiring mechanical engineer. Throughout the course of high school, I had various experiences with 3d printing, prototyping, and NASA. I’ve also built my computer, which I think is pretty cool! I applied to 9 Universities, all while successfully completing the IB program. Handling both college essays and the extensive IB written assessments was stressful, but thanks to the help of my peers and teachers, I was able to do that and much more. I credit my achievements to strong organizational skills that I will push you to obtain. I am very familiar with the Common and Apply Texas applications, as well as skilled in mathematics. Hi! I'm Priscilla, nice to meet you! I'm a junior in college and ever since I was young, I've been super organized, goal-orientated, and creative. I didn't know till high school but those characteristics would lead me to want to become an art teacher and mentor to students. Being a highly motivated student myself and having experiences in teaching have prepared me to be a tutor in study strategies, college application prep, science, and of course, my passion, art! Hi y’all, I’m Elizabeth, a junior at SMU in Dallas! I’m super passionate about education and one thing I love doing is helping others learn and grow. I am super open minded and conscientious, so I am pretty much designed to be a good listener and well-prepared for discussion. I am studying psychology (on track for a Clinical PhD!), but I have a wide academic and artistic skillset including biology, math, European and art history, fine art, essays of any kind, and more. I’ve been an artist and art student my whole life as well, and college has led me to avant garde art and music (Yayoi Kusama or Brockhampton, anyone?!). Hi everyone, my name is Miya! I am a current senior at Prairie View A&M University where I major in biology and minor in music. I’m dedicated to making change within my Dallas community, which is why I am working on becoming a Pediatrician. I also have a strong passion for photography and music. In high school, I was the section leader of the drumline for two years, and now, I am the leader of the media team for PV’s Marching Storm band and one of the principal percussionists for the Wind Ensemble.
