Are You Ready for College is grounded in a simple principle: essential college-learning practices should be explicitly taught rather than assumed.

Students enter college with different experiences and levels of familiarity with the practices that shape success in a course. AYRFC uses the professor's syllabus as the starting point for an active first-day learning experience, guiding students through course expectations, AI policies, professional faculty communication, academic help-seeking, and practical study strategies.

The approach draws on current higher-education research in learner-centered course design, academic help-seeking, and self-regulated learning. Rather than requiring instructors to determine which students need additional guidance, AYRFC gives every student access to the same foundational instruction while allowing each student to work at an individual pace.
